User Account Controls (UAC) Settings

  1. Using an admin card, card into the kiosk and enter your pin to access the admin screen.
  2. Select the “Restart Options” button
  3. Select the “Restart to Windows” option
  4. The Route will restart to the Windows desktop
  5. Click on the Start button. You may have to hover at the bottom left corner of the screen to bring the hidden task bar up.
  6. In the search box on the Start Menu, type the letters UAC and hit enter (the on-screen keyboard should appear as soon as you click/tap in the search box however you can pull up the on-screen key board by going in to the control Panel and then Ease of Access Center).
  7. The UAC window will pop up. Drag the slider to the bottom option (Never Notify) and click OK.
  8. The system will prompt you to approve the change and will also ask to reboot.
  9. Confirm the reboot and then the route will reboot.
  10. When the system comes back up to the Windows desktop, double click the kiosk2 shortcut on the desktop to start the M3 software.
  11. After initialization, card back into the system with your admin card.
  12. Navigate to the same Restart Options screen.
  13. Select the “Restart to RT” option.
  14. The system will reboot and auto start the M3 software in the “shell” and will operate normally.


Local Group Policy Settings


It is also possible that the local group policy has not been configured to allow the Ctrl+Alt+Del command to be sent. This is more problematic with VNC type connections. Bomgar has the capability to override this. In order to change this setting:

  1. Using an admin card, card into the kiosk and enter your pin to access the admin screen.
  2. Select the “Restart Options” button
  3. Select the “Restart to Windows” option
  4. The Route will restart to the Windows desktop
  5. Click on the Start button. You may have to hover at the bottom left corner of the screen to bring the hidden task bar up.
  6. Click the Start Windows button, select Run, type gpedit.msc and press enter.
  7. In the left section, navigate to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Logon Options
  8. In the right section, please double-click on the Disable or enable software Secure Attention Sequence policy and click on Enabled.
  9. Set the policy option to either Services or Services and Ease of Access applications.
  10. Click OK and close the Group Policy Object Editor.
  11. After initialization, card back into the system with your admin card.
  12. Navigate to the same Restart Options screen.
  13. Select the “Restart to RT” option.
  14. The system will reboot and auto start the M3 software in the “shell” and will operate normally.
